Lövsta Agricultural Research

We are looking for someone to work as a stable technician in a dairy cow or pig herd during the summer period from May to September 2026 at SLU Lövsta Agricultural Research outside Uppsala. Our team at Lövsta consists of nearly thirty employees, half of whom work with the dairy herd of 300 cows, while about 6 employees work in the pig barn, which includes 110 sows with integrated production. The barns are highly mechanized, featuring milking robots (VMS) in the dairy barn. The facility conducts around 20 research projects annually and hosts a couple of thousand SLU students.

About the Job

The job involves the usual tasks in a dairy cow or pig herd, such as monitoring in the barns (and on pasture in the cattle barn), cleaning, record-keeping, administration, weighing, and feeding. The work is scheduled with weekend and on-call duties. Some work may occur in Lövsta's chicken and layer hen barns, which are integrated with the dairy barn. Daily work consists of a mix of routine tasks and barn work in research projects.

Your Background

You should have practical experience in dairy and/or pig production, and theoretical knowledge is an advantage. We place great importance on personal qualities such as teamwork, independence, as well as initiative and organizational skills. You should be interested in working with researchers and students. A driver's license (B) is advantageous.

About Us

Lövsta Agricultural Research at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences is one of Europe's most modern facilities for research and education on agricultural animals. The barns host extensive production of pigs, dairy cows, and poultry. The barns are used daily by students and researchers at SLU.
